As the Advanced Manufacturing industry employs one in every five Hoosiers, accounting for one third of Indiana’s economy, Southmont Schools recognizes the importance of preparing students interested in manufacturing careers.
- Southmont High School is home to the Advanced Manufacturing program where students are prepared to engage modern manufacturing career paths in both occupational and higher education settings.
- Southmont High School maintains strong partnerships with local industries including Nucor Steel, Pace Dairy and Raybestos Powertrain.
- Southmont High School students can receive industry-recognized certification in core competency areas governed by the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC) which ensures students are prepared for entry-level opportunities upon graduation.
- A student pursuing the Certified Production Technician certification will earn complete accreditation by demonstrating proficiencies in:
- Safety
- Quality Practices and Precision Measurement
- Manufacturing Processes and Production
- Maintenance Awareness
- Green Production (Currently not required for full accreditation)
- Southmont High School students will be encouraged to earn dual credit through Ivy Tech.
